Nature Camp - Summer 2024

"We want to give a special shout out to Joe and Amy for sharing the Branch with all of us over the last three weeks. 💚
If you don’t know, Joe is a native Perry Countian and blessed us all when he roped Amy in.
Amy came on board earlier this year, as our new Board Chairman. When discussion began of hopes to have an outdoor camp allowing more children, her eyes lit up. We started discussing the incredible learning opportunity it would provide to have camp at the Branch. Amy talked to Joe about it and he too was all in. In years past the number of campers has been capped at around 15, which keeps it affordable for our district. Many do not know, but we receive very little funding from the state. We pay our bills and can afford one employee that works 12 hours a week. I told Amy it was up to them to set the limit for registration. She said “I don’t really want to have a limit.” We discussed how awesome it would be to have 30 to 40 even FIFTY kids running around just exploring and learning. BIG DREAMS we thought. The day we opened registration we had 50 kids and had not registered any of our own. The next day it passed 80 and all we could do was laugh. They never changed their minds. As registration numbers grew (116 campers) it only seemed to motivate them more. Amy reached out to some amazing friends that were able to volunteer their time and energy. They helped us gather donations so that we could afford to hold camp without charging families any money. They gave their time & resources, but mostly they let us all be a part of their Home. We could not have had such a successful Nature Camp without these two selfless people. Thank you so much Joe & Amy Branch for making this possible 💚"
